  • 3/1 - Ash Wednesday
  • 3/2 - Read Across America
  • 3/8 - WalMart Shopping Day
  • 3/12 - Daylight Savings Time Begins
    • Benjamin Franklin first suggested the idea of daylight savings time.  He got the idea while visiting France where people would get up earlier and go to bed earlier in order to save on candles.  However, it was in 1895 when the first modern day version of daylight savings time was proposed by George Hudson in New Zealand.
  • 3/17 - St. Patrick's Day
    • St. Patricks' Day celebrates a Christian saint named Patrick.  Patrick was a missionary who helped bring Christianity to Ireland.  He is the Patron Saint of Ireland.
  • 3/20 - Spring Begins

Here are some fun facts about the month of March: Aquamarine and Bloodstone are the birthstones for March, Daffodil is March's flower, Zodiac signs are Pisces and Aries, animals begin coming out of hibernation in March and many historical figures were born in March such as Albert Einstein, Vincent Van Gogh, James Madison, Dr. Seuss, Harry Houdini and Wyatt Earp.

Fun Facts about February

February is Black History Month.  Black History Month is a time when the contributions and achievements of African American people are celebrated.  Some famous African Americans in history are; Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Malcom X, Rosa Parks and Barack Obama.


February’s birthstone is Amethyst, flower is Primrose and zodiac signs are Aquarius and Pisces.

February is the shortest month of the year and is the third month of winter.

In the Southern Hemisphere, February is a summer month the equivalent to August.

Together with January, it was the last of the months added to the Roman calendar.

The largest American sporting event of the year, the Super Bowl, is held in February.

February is National Bird Feeding Month.
